What is a facial toner?
The job of a toner is to prep your skin after cleansing for your next steps of skincare.
A toner is a water-based product that works to cleanse and refresh the skin, and it’s a step that many of us have been skipping in recent years, due to the rise of the acid toner.
Using a traditional alcohol-free toner after cleansing works to restore your skin’s natural pH which then allows your other skincare products to work better.
A toner also works to hydrate and support the skin’s barrier. The THAYERS Rose Petal Facial Mist has also been formulated to provide an antioxidant boost, and also has anti-inflammatory properties.
Why do you need to tone your skin?
Toning your skin after cleansing is a brilliant step to help maintain barrier function and restore the skin’s natural balance. By returning the skin to its natural pH after cleansing, it allows your subsequent skincare steps to work as they should.
My Review of THAYERS Rose Petal Facial Mist
It was literally love at first spritz with this toner! I have been really getting back into traditional toning over the last few months and have really seen the benefits.
The skincare industry became pretty obsessed with acid toners and post-cleansing steps that provide a very ‘active’ treatment for the skin, and we all kind of forgot about toning in the traditional sense.
It wasn’t until I attended a Sisley Paris workshop over the summer that I was reminded of the importance of the toning step. I love using the Sisley Paris Floral Toning Lotion*, and also the Decleor Neroli Toner, which comes in a really good size in the Decleor Advent Calendar. Check out that post as I have 25{44affb6c5789133b77de981cb308c1480316fee51f5fd5f1575b130f48379a33} coming soon.
What I am really enjoying about the THAYERS Rose Petal Facial Mist is refreshing and calming it feels and how easy it is to use. I absolutely love mists. They are so quick and convenient and this one feels so good after cleansing.
I love to mist this one generously (and you can because it’s on the more affordable end of the scale) and then apply my serums while my skin is still damp. It’s a gorgeous fine mist that I can mist over makeup during the day too.
If you’re on a budget, and in need of this essential skincare step, you really can’t go wrong with this toning mist.
THAYERS also have a wider range of toners that you apply on to a cotton pad and swipe on to the skin. You can check out the range at Boots*.
