Juxtapoz Magazine – Estee Preda x Stance Socks Collection

As a child, Estée Preda was read Hans Christian Andersen and Brothers Grimm fairy tales every night by her mother who escaped the iron curtain. She lived across the hall from her grand-mother who was prone to night terrors. She would watch out the window from her home as one season would slowly turn into another. The world that her art exists in lies somewhere between those ephemeral seasons, night terrors and folk tales. Stance is proud to work with Estée on a limited edition Untitled box set, inspired by her process which is usually very visceral and intuitive.

“At the moment where I created my paintings for Stance I was living in a cabin in the woods and I would spend a lot of time outside, especially at night,” Preda says. “One night as I was walking through the woods I noticed there were hundreds of salamanders and frogs crawling everywhere. I had never seen anything like it. It was so magical. The next day I painted my first design ‘’Night of the Salamander.’ I felt so inspired that I painted a second design, ’Butterflies in the Strawberry Patch’. That one was a little idillic story I dreamt up. I see it as kind of the ‘day-time’ sister painting of ‘’Night of the Salamander’’….

Her UNTITLED box set features 2 pair of Woman socks sz medium featuring Estée illustrations sublimated on each pair. The box set also contains a limited edition silk scarf highlight her art on the wearable canvas.
